MUSIC MAGAZINE: Artist Interview

These are the set of questions and answers I formed to create my DPS interview writing and the questions consist of giving a clear insight to how she got to where she now is.
What got you into music in the first place?

Well, it all started at secondary school when I snuck into the studio room for fun to record myself singing and got caught by a teacher and my friends who secretly recorded me. They all started spreading the word of how my singing was and eventually I started to take this as an opportunity to try something new as everyone loved my voice. Then I slowly started posting covers on YouTube which then ultimately started from 50-60 views to 1, 000-2,000 in just under 6 months. I’ve always had a strong passion for music but after publishing and earning fans it took my love for music to a whole new level.

Has fame changed you?

To be honest everyone changes over time, I have definitely changed as I have grown older where I learned different things about myself but no, fame hasn’t changed me too much of if at all because I have always been myself and that is why it helps me inspire many. Fromm meeting different people and forming different relationships with people I have become wiser of who I am and what I like in people. I know I haven’t necessarily changed the world in many cases but I know I can do it with the momentum and it would be the world to see someone be happy.

Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?

I have big dreams, one of them is being able to collab with Beyonce, she has inspired me since day 1 and her mindset is always about positivity and striving to be the best. A woman needs to stand up for herself and be able to do whatever she wants to and that is exactly what Beyonce taught me, she taught me not to let people step over you and be the person they want you to be but rather you be what they never expected you to be.

Is it difficult to maintain a sense of style at shows/tours?

It really isn’t difficult to maintain a sense of style because by the time you hit your 18’s, 19’s moving onto your 20’s you will already know what sense of style you like and what you are, which then you just apply to your daily life. Just because I have people who listen to me doesn’t make it right for me to act like someone I’m not just to fit in to the style they prefer me to be in, like my style is laid back, chic most of the time but I can be very edgy and sexy when I want to be. Not only is it the type of clothing I wear which sets my style out there but my attitude towards people is the key to how I present myself. At all of my shows I put 100% effort in and I am simply approachable so, no maintaining a style is very easy.

Is there a particular memorable event/day in your life so far?

The most memorable day for me is the moment I found out I hit 4 million subscribers on YouTube! I mean can you imagine, 4 MILLION under 2 years, I thought that was impossible! Even Rihanna commented on one of my cover which honestly made my day because she is a goddess with that talent of hers. That is when I told myself that every day counts towards a great ending and to keep working hard and not to doubt yourself with what your passion can do.

How would you necessarily define your sound?

My sound is simply upbeat yet very effective to many; I don’t just sing to a beat, my lyrics affect people emotionally. It is inspirational, motivates you to get up and get things done. It’s all about the positive vibes you know. Keep striving for the best!
